Pornhub Is Attempting to Save the Environment and We’re Here for It

With its Dirtiest Porn Ever campaign, the website aims to donate to an NGO that removes plastic from oceans across the world, writes Neha Pant

The recent attacks on Greta Thunberg’s valiant attempts to address climate emergency and the lack of aggressive policies to effect real change post the Paris Agreement point to the simple fact that, government’s all over the world majorly lack enthusiasm when it comes to tackling the environmental crisis.

While communities and NGO’s world over are stepping up to save earth, its most unlikely champion of has come in the form of porn site, Pornhub. It all started with the Wankband—wearable tech that converted your ‘me time’ into sustainable energy. On Earth day this year in April, the website had aimed to educate its viewers about Bee’s through its Beesexual campaign. Creating a whole new channel dedicated to nature porn. For each view, the company pledged to donate to bee saving charities.

They’ve now recently launched their Dirtiest Porn Ever campaign, which is basically a video of porn-star couple Leolulu getting down to it on a dirty beach in the Caribbean. For every view, the website will donate to Ocean Polymers, an organisation that cleans the world’s oceans.

In a statement, the vice president of Pornhub, Corey Price said, “As of today, 12.7 million tons of plastic can be found within the depths of our oceans. What’s perhaps even more shocking, is that scientists predict that there will be more plastic than fish within our oceans in only 30 years. Ocean pollution has grown to become of the most significant global issues of our lifetime, and it’s only getting worse. That’s why it’s imperative that we use our platform to raise awareness and inspire change – not just for the time being but for generations to come. We’re dirty here at Pornhub, but that doesn’t mean our beaches need to be.”

Definitely not the hero we were promised but definitely the champions we deserve.
